Tokyo Craft: Blue Romance - Green Screen Background (2017)

For Poweredby.Tokyo and PEN Magazine’s fourth and final Tokyo Craft movie, Blue Romance, about Noriyuki Murata’s indigo-dying operation in western Tokyo, the director requested additional illustrations be made for green screen insertion.

The final work, comprised of multiple small illustrations, was based on traditional Japanese ukiyo-e and nihonga, and rendered as an inverted, monochromatic 3D environment surrounding Murata-san as he worked.
