RATRI (2019)
In late 2018, I was commissioned to produce a full-colour illustrative poster for director Jeremy Rubier’s short film Ratri.
He enthusiastically requested a piece honouring the hand-painted movie posters of the ‘70s and ‘80s, as well as the recent trend of digitally reproducing said style à la Netflix’s Stranger Things.
Having very limited experience with both digital painting and doing full-colour illustrations, this project proved to be challenging, but quite educational and satisfying.
I experimented with various techniques and combinations of hand-drawn portraits and digital colours and alterations, but settled on an almost entirely digital piece in the end.
The credits and production info were added afterward by the film crew.
